Peace Propaganda & The Promised Land

This documentary should be more popular than it is. Such blatant proof of the ineffectiveness of the American media should be common knowledge, yet very few people have seen this video (only 100,000 or less hits on youtube). An average American will never wonder why there is never a story portraying the suffering of the Palestinians, as he or she is bombarded with the same message: Israelis simply matter more. The fact that the strong historical ties between the USA and Israel, along with the American media’s cozy relationship with the political elite, are carefully concealed or downplayed saddens me deeply because this means the truth will always come too late.

When one looks at history, or just at this century, wherever there has been an injustice, such as the continuous marginalization of a people, or even genocide, the world has stood by, only acting once too many lives were lost. How many Palestinian and Israeli lives have to be lost for the issues they are facing to be correctly addressed? Most importantly, when will murderers have to face their actions, and their aides stopped from enabling them? Unfortunately for Palestinians, Israel and the US, are major players in the world’s economy and their influence has silenced many consciences. The United Nations has no muscle, and therefore, without the support of the major economies of the world, no concrete measure can be taken. I simply hope that more people will wake up and smell the coffee, and realize that there is no such thing as objectivity, and that ignorance is not an excuse for being a bystander. Then perhaps, more than a few will stand up for justice.

  1. i completely agree! Its very clear how much the United States media has strayed away from the idea of "muckrakers". Muckrakers were many different media crew who exposed corruption, poverty, scandals etc within the government as well with common people. They were known to tell the truth and expose what was really going on with in the lines of this country. so many Americans are fooled by the reality because of stories like this movie not being heard. I wonder who's pressuring the news people and people in charge of the media to tell false information. it's quite interesting because that then brings up the question, what other valuable information is our government choosing not to tell us. It's sad when Americans travel to other countries and are hated, but look at how our name is being used. No wonder why people in other countries feel the way they do.

  2. I like your analysis of the documentary because I completely agree with what you have to say. This movie should be much more popular, and it truly is unbelievable that so many people know nothing about how biased the media truly is. It makes me realize that I may not know the whole truth about every other event that hits the news because it is highly likely that a reported story is one sided. I'm curious to know if any news reporters ever feel guilty about making a story so one sided. Like the person above me said, I wonder who is pressuring these reporters to write false information in their stories. Hopefully one day the news will be less biased and people can actually believe what they see, hear, or read about.

  3. I have to say that I am not that surprised at how twisted our media is. I have been noticing for quite some time how the media portrays a certain event and twists it to their advantage. The most prevalent case for myself was after 9-11 attacks. We, the viewers, were fed with lies and biased information from newspapers as well as new organization. The lies had built up a blinded us that it led us to war with Iraq , a country that was not involved with the attacks. Of course Bush’s reason was because Saddam Hussein was an evil dictator, but so were many others in other parts of the world. But for the normal American who had no previous knowledge of the Middle East believed that we should attack Iraq. I don’t mean to discredit Americans, but I know from firsthand experience how many people were convinced Iraq was somehow involved in 9-11.
